monthly Meetings

Monthly member meetings are in person the first Wednesday of every month, 6:30pm in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front St, Marquette. Each month, we have a short business meeting, refreshments, a program to learn tips and techniques, and a “show and tell” for members to share their projects and experiences.

Meetings of the MCQA board, open to all members, are also at PWPL and are scheduled and announced in the Members Only section.

A highlight of our monthly meetings is the featured program. Each month an MCQA member or community member shares a skill, tip, technique, presentation, or activity to broaden our knowledge of quilting. Don’t miss these programs:

January 2024: Working with bias binding to create chenille effects, presented by Patty Beyer and Maureen Gumaer.
February 2024: Machine quilting: using an embroidery module or regular machine to quilt a quilt top. Connie Gohl will demonstrate using a block-of-the-month sample.
March 2024: Jo Whittler from Marquette Regional History Center will present historic quilts from their collection.
April 2024: Adding prairie points to the borders of your quilt, presented by Coralie Voce [Meeting cancelled due to weather - to be rescheduled].
May 2024: Scrap Busting and Scrap Quilts, presented by Mary Poirier.
June 2024: Mixed Media: Describe and Design, presented by Judy Parlato.
July 27, 2024: Christmas in July All-Day Sew-In! 10 a.m.-5 p.m., PWPL Community Room.
August 2024: Summer Picnic, location TBD.
September 2024: Cheapskate Quilter: Thrifted, Recycled, and Found Fabrics, presented by Laura Reilly.
October 2024: Working with and Using Minky Scraps, presented by Carol Mihalko.
November 2024: Annual business meeting.
December 2024: Christmas Party, location TBD.
